When we invest in the real economy we provide businesses, founders, and entrepreneurs the capital needed to make a idea into reality. Sometime this is a service or product that solves a problem for society, sometimes this is an improvement to an existing service or product, but in either case the future is altered for the better and in exchange we change our future as investors our return on our investment allows us more freedom to allocate our time and capital into the things that bring meaning to our lives.
As professional investors and entrepreneurs we have had the benefit of building wealth by taking calculated risk and allocating capital into investment we understand. We have learned that our level of understanding directly determines the success of the investment. We want to share our collective knowledge and experience with other investors in order to improve their investment skills and share in our investmetn success.
The biggest risks are in not knowing what you don't know. Investing and entrepreneurship require a great deal of experiential knowledge. The extremely valuable hard lessons that can only be learned through hard experiences. The hardest lesson I learned was that not all of this experiential knowledge has to come from your own experiences. You can leverage the experiences and hard lessons of others to shortcut your path to success.
